Birthday Fancy is one of my favorite current kits. The images are lovely, as are the sentiments in the included stamp set. There are a total of 12 cardbases, 4 each of 3 designs. The cardbases are printed on both sides, so if you wanted to cut them in half and mount them onto your own cardbases, you could easily make plenty of extra cards because there are lots of diecuts of various cakes and sweets and other layering pieces.
The kit provides step-by-step instructions in the kit for 3 card designs, and it also shows pictures of lots of other ways to put the pieces together. I’m sharing some of my own alternates below that use just the pieces from the kit to help inspire you, and keep reading for some fun-fold designs too.

For this next alternate, I simply turned the card inside out and added a score line halfway down the front, at 2-1/8”, making it a Z-fold card. I then adhered a piece of Basic White cardstock on the inside for the message panel.
Measurements:
- Kit cardbase
8-1/2" (W) x 5-1/2" (H), scored at 2-3/4” and 5-1/2” (original score line) along the long side
- Basic White cardstock
2-1/2" (W) x 3-3/4" (H)
These last two alternates are double-Z fold cards and require extra cardstock—Petal Pink and Cloud Cover—added to the kit contents. I cut up the original cardbases to use as background pieces, and the message panel is one of the laser-cut lacy panels from the kit. I also added a few embellishments to make them extra special.
Measurements:
- Coordinating cardstock
11" (W) x 4-1/4" (H) for larger cardbase, scored at 2-3/4” and 5-1/2” along the long side
10-1/4" (W) x 3-1/4" (H) for smaller cardbase, scored at 2-3/4” and 5-1/2” along the long side
- Kit cardbase
TWO 2-1/2" (W) x 4" (H)
5-1/4" (W) x 4" (H)
- Basic White cardstock (optional)
TWO 2-1/2" (W) x 3" (H)
Let me know if you try this kit too!
