Hi! I’m Vy with Crafting Daily Dose. Welcome to this month’s A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop, featuring alternatives for the March 2026 Fluttering Garden kit.

This kit included supplies for 9 cards, 3 each of 3 designs. Kits always come with an exclusive stamp set, a mini ink cube, embellishments, and adhesives. As of today, refills are still available.

This is such a beautiful kit, and I especially like how the colorful hummingbirds really stand out against an elegant neutral background. Bird images are always exciting to me because they are a great excuse to add simple movement to a card!

My first project is a shadowbox card. I started by cutting the kit cardbase in half and scoring at 1/2" and 1" from each end of both pieces. I used a 2-3/8" circle punch on one of the pieces to create a viewing window. On this front piece, I stamped flowers along the bottom edge, and to achieve a more varied look, I used washi tape to mask off part of the stamp at times. For the back piece, I stamped the spray of flowers twice.

I folded along the score lines as shown so that the front and back pieces could be stacked together to form a shadowbox. I added a large hummingbird die cut to the front. To step up the card further, I used a glue dot to add one of the small hummingbirds to a small strip of Window Sheet acetate and then attached the Window Sheet to the back panel of the card, placing it so that the bird can be seen through the circle opening of the front panel. Because the Window Sheet is a slick surface, it's best to use a dry adhesive here--a glue dot, Stampin' Seal, or Tear 'n Tape. Next, it's just a matter of adhering the front and back together. It's fine to use glue on the paper, but again, for the area where the Window Sheet is sandwiched in, I used a dry adhesive. After the shadowbox was assembled, I trimmed off the excess Window Sheet.

I cut an envelope and adhered it to the back of the card for added interest and then added the sentiment.

Finally, I added a few embellishments from the kit. Not only does the card stand up, but when you hold the ends and push them in an out, the small hummingbird moves back and forth.

Measurements:

- Kit cardbase

  • TWO 5-1/2" (W) x 4-1/4" (H), scored at 1/2", 1", 4-1/2", and 5" along the long side; punch a 2-3/'8" circle or similar from the front piece

- Kit envelope

  • 3-1/2" (W) x 4-1/4" (H)

- Window Sheet

  • 3" (W) x 1/2" (H)

My next card has even more movement! You can use the kit cardbase that aready has a circle on it, but I wanted to change to a landscape orientation, and the circle is not quite centered horizontally when the card is turned on its side. Instead, I started with a plain cardbase and traced a 2" circle template for stamping. I stamped the sprig of flowers twice and then added just the top flowers by masking off the rest of the stamp. It looks a bit odd on its own, but it creates a more full look without big gaps once the card is finished. I also used the texture stamps with the little dots in the corners to add more detail.

For the mechanism, I placed a Dimensional foam sticker in the center of the flower circle. I then used a 1/2" circle punch from my stash to create a hole on one end of a Window Sheet strip. Alternatively, you could use a Mini Dimensional and punch a hole with the type of hole punch you find with office supplies. This allows the Window Sheet strip to spin around the Dimensional. I added a hummingbird to the Window Sheet with a glue dot. It's important to place the bird so that when it's in the upper left corner, it fits completely on the card. That way, everything will fit inside the envelope! It's okay that as the bird spins around, its wings will extend past the card in some areas, but there needs to be at least one position where everything fits. After finalizing the placement of the bird, I trimmed off the excess Window Sheet.

Next, I adhered another hummingbird to the circle sentiment. This helped me keep track of the orientation when I flipped everything over. Looking at the backside like a clock, I placed Mini Dimensionals at the 5, 6, 9, and 11 o'clock positions. These Mini Dimensionals help direct the movement of the spinning piece so that bird "flies" on the left of the card.

I removed the backing off all the Dimensionals and carefully placed the circle sentiment onto the card. I finished with a few embellishments. Now the bird can take flight!

Measurements:

- Kit cardbase

  • 5-1/2" (W) x 8-1/2" (H), scored at 4-1/4” along the long side

- Window Sheet

  • 3" (W) x 1" (H)
