Pick of the Crop #2

Paper Pumpkin is Stampin' Up's monthly subscription box. June’s "Pick of the Crop" kit included components for 9 cards—3 each of 3 different designs—along with matching envelopes. Kits always include an exclusive stamp set, a mini ink cube, embellishments, and adhesives.

The intended projects are always fun, but I love to find different ways to use the kits and show their versatility. In keeping with this month’s theme, the tote carries a little clipboard that can be used as a shopping list and money clip to bring along on your trips to the farmers market.

I love the adorable mini tote in this kit and went to town decorating it. Here are some tips for successful stamping on the bag:

-Iron your bag first if it has creases and wrinkles.

-I cut some of the chipboard from the kit packaging and slipped it inside the bag. It gives a nice even surface for stamping. If you’re using a Classic Stampin’ Pad like I did, you don’t have to worry about the ink bleeding, but if you’re using Stampin’ Blends markers, having an insert protects against the ink bleeding through to the other side.

-If you’re stamping near the hem or the seams, position your stamp at the edge of a clear block so that you’re not trying to go over the uneven section.

To get different colors on the strawberry, I inked up just the bottom section using Poppy Parade ink and then used a Garden Green Stampin’ Write marker to color in the hull at the top.

The chipboard packaging from the kit was cut to 4-1/4” (W) x 5-1/2” (H) and then covered with one of the cardbases to form the clipboard. I used a piece of the envelope was to cover the binder clip and another piece to insert into the barrel of a Pentel RSVP pen to complete the set.

July 10th is the last day to sign up for next month’s kit, called Sending Good Thoughts. If you’d like some sneak peeks and a chance to win a 1-month subscription code, check out this fun quiz! The kit will feature an exclusive stamp set and includes a Stampin Spot in the Bermuda Bay color. If you‘re in the U.S. and would like to subscribe to Paper Pumpkin with me, I’ll send you a handmade thank you card, and I’ll be sure to let you know when I post new ideas!
